Basic Usage:
For unit conversion:

• Select the category of the units you wish to convert. (SEE FULL LIST)
• Select the unit you wish to convert from.
• Select the unit you wish to convert to.
• Input the value of the unit you wish to convert from in the input box.
  • The value can consist of the following: (See "Compatible Input" below)
  • Integers: 1234
  • Decimal Fractions: 56.78
  • Fractions: 9/10
  • Mixed Fractions: 11+12/13
  • Exponents: 14^15; 14**15
  • E-Notation: 1.6171819e+20
  • Operators: -2.1+22*(2/3-24)%25
  • Constants: pi, sr2; e
  • Functions: sqrt(x), log(x,base), log10(x), ceil(x), abs(x), floor(x), acos(x), asin(x), atan(x), atan2(y,x), hypot(x,y), sin(x), cos(x), tan(x), dsin(x), dcos(x), dtan(x), degrees(x), radians(x); round(x,n)
• Click the convert button or press enter. The result will show in the output.

Compatible Input: (Applies to all categories except "Numeral Base")

• Integer: A positive or negative whole number or zero.
• Fraction: A numerical representation indicating the quotient of two numbers.
• Mixed Fraction: A whole number plus a fraction.
• Decimal Fraction: A fraction where the denominator is a power of ten.
• Exponent: A numerical representation indicating the operation of raising to a power.
• E-Notation: 5e+011 Represents 5 * 10^11
• Operator:
  • Parenthesis: ( ) - Forces operations in between to execute first.
  • Multiplication * - Returns the product of two values.
  • Division / - Returns the quotient of two values.
  • Modulo % - Returns remainder of two values after division.
  • Addition: + - Returns the sum of two values.
  • Subtraction: - Returns the difference of two values.
• Constant:
  • pi: Represents ratio of the circumference to the diameter of a circle; approximately 3.14159265...
  • sr2: Represents the square root of 2; approximately 1.41421356...
  • e: Represents the base of natural logarithms; approximately 2.71828182...
  • sr3: Represents the square root of 3; approximately 1.73205080...
• Function:
  • sqrt(x): Return the square root of x.
  • log(x,base): Return the logarithm of x to the given base. If the base is not specified, return the natural logarithm of x (that is, the logarithm to base e).
  • log10(x): Return the base-10 logarithm of x.
  • ceil(x): Return the ceiling of x as a float, the smallest integer value greater than or equal to x.
  • abs(x): Return the absolute value of x.
  • floor(x): Return the floor of x as a float, the largest integer value less than or equal to x.
  • acos(x): Return the arc cosine of x, in radians.
  • asin(x): Return the arc sine of x, in radians.
  • atan(x): Return the arc tangent of x, in radians.
  • atan2(y,x): Return atan(y / x), in radians.
  • hypot(x,y): Return the Euclidean norm, sqrt(x*x + y*y).
  • sin(x): Return the sine of x radians.
  • cos(x): Return the cosine of x radians.
  • tan(x): Return the tangent of x radians.
  • dsin(x): Return the sine of x degrees.
  • dcos(x): Return the cos of x degrees.
  • dtan(x): Return the tan of x degrees.
  • degrees(x): Converts angle x from radians to degrees.
  • radians(x): Converts angle x from degrees to radians.
  • round(x,n): Rounds x to the nearest multiple of 10^-n.

Configuring:
To configure:

• Click or go to "File>Settings".
• You may choose how the program outputs the results by choosing "Auto" (Default), "Decimal", "Fraction", or "Scientific". Decimal and Scientific outputs both support significant figures of 1 through 10. You can also choose to let the program remember your last selected units, so that you can continue from where you left off.

Customizing:
To add/delete units and categories:

• Click or go to "File>Custom".
• Click the help buttons for further instructions.

Extra Features:
Some extra features are:

• Unit Search: Click or go to "Help>Search" to quickly find units you're looking for.
• History Saving: Click or go to "View>View History" to see your conversion history; Go to "Edit>Clear History" to delete conversion history. Your input and output will be automatically saved when you convert units. (Tip- This feature is especially useful when used in conjunction with the "World Currency" category. When used together, one can conveniently track the trends of world currency rates.)
• Notes: Click or go to "View>View Notes" to see your notes; go to "Edit>Clear Notes" to delete notes. You can quickly jot down notes with out the need for an external text editor. Notes are dynamically saved as you type.
• Flip Units: Click or go to "View>Flip" Units for a quick inversion of selected units.
• Calculator: Click or go to "File>Calculator" to instantly run your operating system's default calculator.
• Copy Output: Click or go to "Edit>Copy Output" to instantly copy the output to the clipboard.
• Update Checker: Click or go to "Help>Update" to check for program updates. The updater will attempt to update the currency rates, unit definitions, and will alert you if a new version of Das Unit Converter is available for download. It is recommended you update periodically for the most up-to-date currency rates and unit additions/revisions. Please note that you have to be online to use this feature.

Other Features:
Some other notable features are:

• Statistics: Click or go to "Help>Search". Click the "Stats" button to see the how many units and categories are available. The number of available units will increase as you add your own units and obtain new definitions updates (via online updater).
• Base Conversions: A feature that is missing in most unit converters today, the "Numeral Base" category allows you to convert between bases of 2 through 70.
• World Currency: Another feature that is seldom found in other unit converters, the "World Currency" category allows you to convert between 35 currencies. The currency rates are also revisable via online updates.
• Roman Numerals: A feature within the "Numeral Base" category, the "Roman numeral" unit can seamlessly convert Roman numerals into any base between 2 through 70 and vice versa. The largest Roman numeral supported is MMMCMXCIX, or 3999 in decimal form.

Troubleshooting:
If you're getting a fatal error message when starting (or during the use of) the program, it's most likely due to a corrupted "das_uc_datxyz.dat", "das_uc_uduxyz.xml", or "das_uc_ecbxyz.xml" (xyz represents the program's version) file. This problem can be prevented by closing Das Unit Converter properly and running only one instance of the program at a time. To resolve this issue, simply delete these files, which are located in the %homepath% folder (Start>Run>Type %homepath% >Click OK). You can also uninstall and reinstall Das Unit Converter to quickly resolve this issue. If problems persists, try downloading the portable version from the website.

To Advanced Users: Located in the %tmp% folder is the "das_uc_tmp_log" text file (unless erased). This text file is an error log and should always be blank. If this file contains data, it means the program contains bugs. Please email a copy of this file to the author if it does indeed contain data.
*NEW- As of version 5.67, you can suggest new units/symols (or report unit errors) to the author. If accepted, the new unit/symbol will be available via updater.
